Tax Rule Maintenance

The "Tax Rule Maintenance" grid allows you to maintain the tax rules and the information about them.

To access the grid in the Console menu, go to Setup > Tax Rule Maintenance.

When the application has loaded, the "Tax Rule Maintenance" grid appears on the screen.

 

 

 

Maintaining Tax Rule Data

When you click Edit or Add, the "Tax Rule Maintenance" pop-up appears. This pop-up contains the following tabs:

General Commodity Codes 

Use these tabs to maintain the key elements of a tax rule.

The General Tab

Use the the General tab to maintain general tax rule information and to configure options.

 

 

The General tab contains the following elements:

General Information
Tax Rule Name The name of your tax rule.
Ship From Jurisdiction The location from which the Item/s are being shipped.
Ship To Jurisdiction The location to which the Item/s are being shipped.
Basis The starting value or basic tax on an Item if one applies.
Rate The tax rate.
Taxable A checkbox that when checked identifies the tax rule as taxable.
Tax Exempt by Exemption Number A checkbox that when checked enables Items to be deemed tax exempt by exemption number.
Tax Exempt Freight by Exemption Number A checkbox that when checked enables Items to be deemed tax exempt frieght by exemption number.

Note:

Be sure to click the button when you are finished making any edits.
 

The Commodity Codes Tab

The Commodity Codestab contains the following sections:

Commodity Codes Information
Select Commodity Codes A button that enables you to select one of your preexisting commodities.
Selected Commodity Codes

Commodity Code: The short code used to identify a commodity.

Description: The short description used to describe a commodity.

When you click Select Commodity Codes, the "Available Commodity Codes" pop-up appears.
